2016
The CoSAC project associates partners from research and development in order to (1) quantify and understand, with experiments, the effects of novel agricultural practices on weeds and the functioning of the agroecosystem, (2) design tools that predict the effect of agricultural techniques et pedoclimate on weed flora, (3) use these tools to design sustainable weed management strategies and to evaluate their performances in contexts of changing agricultural practices, climate, biodiversity, (4) facilitate the adoption of these novel strategies by farmers. We will present the first results of the project, e.g. the effect on weeds of cover crops during fallow or associated to a cash crop, the …
Persistance and adaptation of Listeria monocytogenes in the soil : role of the communication system Agr
2014
Listeria monocytogenes is a ubiquitous bacterium responsible for listeriosis, a food-borne disease. This pathogen has been isolated from various environments of which the telluric environment. The presence of L. monocytogenes in soil can increase health hazards due to the risk of transfer to vegetables, animals and animal products and water. Considering the role of soil in the circulation of pathogens from farm environment to plant and animal products and eventually to foodstuff, it is critical to identify intrinsic and extrinsic factors that drive the fate of L. monocytogenes in soil. Genome-wide and transcriptomic analyses found that an important part of the genome of L. monocytogenes (7.…
Indicators of agricultural intensity and intensification: a review of the literature
2015
Since the 1960s, research has dealt with agricultural intensification (AI) as a solution to ensure global food security. Recently, sustainable intensification (SI) has increasingly been used to describe those agricultural and farming systems that ensure adequate ecosystem service provision. Studies differ in terms of the application scales and methodologies, thus we aim to summarize the main findings from the literature on how AI and SI are assessed, from the farm to global levels. Our literature review is based on 7865 papers selected from the Web of Science database and analysed using CorText software. A further selection of 105 relevant papers was used for an in-depth full-text analysis …

2017

2011
The territorial base of agriculture is a key to understand the sustainability of this activity, in hybrid territories like peri-urban areas or rural touristic ones. To this aim, the French method of the "agrarian systems" is improved by the concept of "territorial agrarian system": the territory is then a meta-system of the agrarian system that leads to understand the linkage between the individual trajectories of farmers and the global and collective expectations of the territorial stakeholders. This conceptual, methodological and practical approach is applied to the rural touristic area of Balagne, a seaside territory located at the Northwest Corsica. There, as a subject torn between land…
